What I love about linux is also the biggest problem with it, the learning curve.

In addition to what loser mentioned(good advice btw) your best bet is look through some websites dedicated to linux. Just try not to join any of them if you can avoid it though. Most of them have a lot of people who are way too full of themselves. There are good people there, but they're in the minority.

Another tip: NEVER EVER access the computer as root(system administrator). Not until you know more about what you are doing. Even people who are familiar with linux avoid doing anything as root when they can avoid it.

Other than that, my advice is to find yourself a cheap computer and load up one of the many distros out there and just screw around on it. Just don't put anything important on there.
