Question Rar question

I have a pw protected movie that I want to unzip, but my winrar wont prompt me to enter the pw. It just simply unzips and errors on like the 3rd part where it gives me a wrong pw error. I'm stuck at this point. I tried entering a default pw but that doesnt work.

1 - If you don't have the right password, you're out of luck. There is no easy way to recover a lost password.

2 - If you do have the right password, the 3rd part may be corrupt. Try downloading that part again.

3 - Also, you may be entering the correct password incorrectly. Upper and lower case must match (i.e., "pass" does not work for "Pass"). Sometimes, pw's are given where the poster slips up on case. Experiment.

4 - Additionally, sometimes just copy/paste a pw accidentally picks up unwanted and unseen characters. Try typing it.

But your best bet is probably #2

I can't enter the pw. That's the main problem. My winrar never prompts me to enter in the pw.

As Leggy said, if some part is corrupt, then you may not even get to the password prompt. You'll get the error right away.

maybe you need to get rid of the default password option in winrar. If you set it to any value whatsoever, winrar will automatically try to unpack protectred files by using the default option.

OK, I downloaded all the 16 files and used the password you gave me. It took winrar awfully long but eventually unpacked the entire thing nicely. I suppose the poster used a strong level of compression. Anyway, my best guess is, one of the files you downloaded is corrupted. Oh, and winrar prompted me to enter the password right away after I clicked the "unpack" button.

Why not try some other zip program, cuz winrar is not the only one out there...who knows if the proggy itself is somehow broken.
Izarc is pretty neat. http://www.izarc.org/

I use two unzip program for RAR file.. 7-Zip and ZipGenius.. Both are free. Papaz already has the 7-zip link and here is the ZipGenius link http://www.zipgenius.it/eng/index.php. If the unrar is not working , you may want to try switching to the other program and it may work (happened to me before)
