| This post human tested! ![]() | I recently came across a new browser called Google Chrome. http://www.google.com/chrome Here's a Wiki article about it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Chrome I haven't tried it yet. I was wondering if anyone is familiar with Google Chrome, and what they think. |

![]() | It was built with a novel concept in mind: if one browser tab crashes, the others will (supposedly) stay active. This is also being claimed as a way of limiting memory usage, a problem plaguing browsers and especially firefox. I downloaded the beta last week, but quickly removed it. I'll wait for the first 'full' release to try again. It has a degree of difficulty handling javascript, for instance on myspace 'own your friends', any link clicked on caused the page to move back to the top. Very annoying. Also, still kind of 'iffy' on googles updater...it is supposed to be harmless, yet despite being removed as a start up program (which it became by DEFAULT and without permission), the program would still start up and run at some point during my online time. Can't say when, but sooner or later I'd notice it running. This despite the fact that as I said, it was removed as a start up program, and also despite the fact that NO google software had been run at any point (which, presumably, would activate it). Finally, even after I uninstalled chrome, the updater managed to stay active. Had to hunt it down and delete the folder it was in. So fuck that. But I'll try chrome again once they iron out the imperfections.

![]() | Should also add that it has been designed as simple and easy to use. However, that also comes at a cost. The options are extremely limited and I couldn't even figure out how to get the tab bar to the bottom of the window, which is the layout I prefer.

| I would say to read the license very carefully before making the leap. ... "11. Content license from you: 11.1 You retain copyright and any other rights you already hold in Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services. By submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services. This license is for the sole purpose of enabling Google to display, distribute and promote the Services and may be revoked for certain Services as defined in the Additional Terms of those Services. 11.2 You agree that this license includes a right for Google to make such Content available to other companies, organizations or individuals with whom Google has relationships for the provision of syndicated services, and to use such Content in connection with the provision of those services. 11.3 You understand that Google, in performing the required technical steps to provide the Services to our users, may (a) transmit or distribute your Content over various public networks and in various media; and (b) make such changes to your Content as are necessary to conform and adapt that Content to the technical requirements of connecting networks, devices, services or media. You agree that this license shall permit Google to take these actions. 11.4 You confirm and warrant to Google that you have all the rights, power and authority necessary to grant the above license. " I'll personally be sticking to FF as I have it tailored to fit my needs quite nicely and enjoy the add-ons and scripts that are available.

Loads of features that FF has are missing, big thing is cookies I like to ban certain domains no option though. Like the idea that if one tab craps out the whole browser doesn't fold and the task manager showing tab/website memory usage.
