Unable to view animated gifs

OK, this is weird. Wherever I go, animated gifs aren't working for me. I just get a static image of the first frame. It's strange, but it doesn't seem to totally apply here. My own avatar still works OK, and I can see the animations in other people's avatars.

However, I've viewed a couple of posts where an image that is clearly meant to be an animation does nothing. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this?

See if clearing your cache helps.

What happens when you look at this one?

Could it be the piccy host that people are using? If you can see Simply Random and not others that could be the problem.

It would also be helpful if you updated your Java Runtime Environment:

http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp

If you're using Firefox enter about:config into your address bar, locate image.animation_mode and ensure that the value is set to normal.
