Will High temp rubber hose melt on an exhaust? 85 mustang gt, airpump to h-pipe.
NOT IF IT'S SILICON HOSE, MOST GOOD AUTO STORES HAVE IT, AND I DON'T MEAN PEP BOYS LOL, IT'S USALLY GREEN OR BLUE AND HAS A VERY HIGH TEMP RATE AND WILL NOT BURN ON AIR INJECTION TUBES

Default re: trans problems

not that i'v seen, and according to my customer data base, i have 34 diffrent jeeps coming into my shop, i have never seen any kind of problems with them.
but any vehicle can have transmission problems if it's not maintained!

I only need about 1.5 feet, and it's probably still cheaper then a factory replacement

Got thrown off by all that metric discussion!

Treesmoke...don't know if this was mentionned in your flooded car thing but one thing to watch out far after the fix is the development of mold and mildew. A friend had a leaky car which eventually got fixed but underneath the carpets grew an infestation that kept her sick for months. It wasn't until someone laughed about the leak in the passenger compartment for months that I suggested the carpet should be changed. Sure enough, when we pulled it up the spores were enough to make you gag! We took a pressure washer, some heavy duty disinfectant a few days airing out to do the trick!

Understood...so here goes:

98 Lexus ES300 bought used in December with 101k from a Lexus dealer with all maintenance and records done at the dealer. Car runs great except for a slight hesitation or skipping/stuttering feeling only above 40mph and more noticeable while trying to hold certain speeds, 50mph-55mph, 60 etc. Problem does not occur during acceleration and actually went away entirely during a very cold spell in Feb...temps in the teens. During the winter it seemed like the problem became more pronounced after the car had warmed up.

Diagnostic history: Lexus dealer says there is no problem and claims to have run it through diagnostic equipment and saw no issues with the engine. Personal mechanic thought it might be a torque converter so I took it to a transmission specialist who test drove with me and said it wasn't the torque converter or transmission. No error codes are showing and the check engine light doesn't come on. Good tires on the car although they will need to be replaced soon cause they are wearing a little low.

With no background in autos at all I'm wondering if it could be a vacuum issue...any thoughts? Thanks!

O.K HERE'S MY TAKE ON THIS
TODAYS ENGINES NEED A PRECISE AMOUNT OF A FUEL & AIR MIXTURE- 14.7:1, AND WITH TODAYS COMPUTER ENGINE MANAGMENT SYSTEMS THIS IS TAKEN CARE OF. BUT YOUR CAR IS BUCKING-LEAN FUEL MIXTURE(SLIGHT CYLINDER MISFIRING) O.K ENOUGH OF CLASS, YOUR PROBLEM SOUNDS AS IF THE VALVES HAVE CARBON ON THEM, THE CARBON ON THE BACK SIDES OF INTAKE VALVES ACTS AS A SPONGE-ABSORBING A PORTION OF THE FUEL THE ENGINE NEEDS TO RUN PROPERLY-THE REASON YOUR CAR IS FINE ON A COLD START OR WINTER IS BECAUSE THE FUEL MIXTURE IS SLIGHTLY RICHER (MORE) FUEL. THINK OF A BAR-B-Q WHEN YOU POUR LIGHTER FLUID ON THE CHARCOL IT'S ABSORBED, SAME THING HAPPENING INSIDE THE ENGINE, NOW THE REASON A DIAGNOSTIC SHOWS NOTHING IS THAT THE ON-BOARD COMPUTER HAS THE ABILITY TO COMPENSATE A CERTAIN AMOUNT FOR THIS. WHEN THE COMPUTER REACHES IT MAXIMUM ADAPTIVE LIMIT IT WILL TURN ON THE CHECK ENGINE LITE AND STORE A TROUBLE CODE FOR RUNNING TO LEAN (NOT ENOUGH FUEL).
**O.K NOW THE FIX-GO TO YOUR MECH. HAVE HIM CHECK THE FUEL TRIM ON HIS DIAGNOSTIC SCANNER, IF IT'S VERY HIGH-LONG TERM FUEL ADJUTMENT, HAVE HIM SOAK THE ENGINE OVERNITE WITH DECARBONIZER SOLVENT, THIS SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM
GOOD LUCK
MANDI

Many thanks for the reply, Mandi.
Like I said, I don't know autos but that really sounds plausible. I'll let you know how it turns out...thanks again!

Special oil to plug an exhaust leak? No. No such thing, although I hear Marvel's Mystery Oil is fantastic.
