It restarts right away but it may stall out 2 or 3 times in a row.

I have a new fuel pump assembly installed about 3 months ago but it was doing that intermittently beforehand as well.

mugzy: ok here's what i got, it shuts off, will restart, but stalls a few times.
soooo- let's assume the fuel pump is o.k, since problem was there before, your losing ignition spark or the signal to the engines computer or both and since both are generated fromt the ignition system the problem could possibly be crankshaft position sensor failing (generates rpm signal) without this signal the engines computer cannot generat spark or fuel injector pulses. hense the intermitant shut off. and these sensors fail like this.

don't care: cool a fellow mik a nik!! how's things in the uk? you guys used to obd-2 yet? gotta tell you after 30 years of doing this i really believe the cars are the best they have ever been. although i have a shop full of computers and the software costs are getting stupid i still enjoy repairing them most days

any ballpark figure on repair or replacement for the silly sensor?

yes we've had the obd-2, we're on to the next thing now (can't rembember what it's called tho ) it's still new I haven't had much to do with it yet.

I've only been doing it for about 14 years, the cars are fine, it's the customers I don't like
