But IE7 works for me now, i will see how it goes. maybe i even start using it...
The ability to D/L and install extensions shouldn't require any special plugin. You should be able to go to https://addons.mozilla.org/?application=firefox, find whatever extension you want, click on the "install now" button on the web page, then confirm that you really want to install that extension. The extension should be active the next time you start Firefox. It really should be that simple.

If you can't, type "about:config" into the address bar and press enter as if that were a web address. Find xpinstall.enabled and set it to true by double clicking on it or by right clicking and choosing reset.

If that doesn't work, I would completely uninstall, then reinstall FF. If that doesn't work, you could try uninstalling FF and deleting the C:\Documents and Settings\[Your Name]\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\ directory, assuming you are using WinXP, and reinstall. If that doesn't work, you've somehow managed to really screw things up, and I can't help you.

A few more points (trying to make this Spyker-proof, if possible):

After installing the FLV player, you might have to reboot your computer before the icons for the flv files look like they do in Legmann's first post.

You must wait for the videos to finish downloading before you will see them in your Temporary Internet Files folder. Just starting to play them isn't enough.

You can't rename the files in the Temporary Internet Files folder. You must copy them elsewhere, first.

Files in the Temporary Internet Files folder will be deleted eventually, so if you want to keep the file, copy it while you can.

Sometimes, particularly with Windows Media and Real Media, you can't save the video files because the video is streamed. (Same with audio.) In those cases, all you get in the Temporary Internet Files folder is a tiny file that points to the address of the stream. (It still might be a handy file to keep, however.) But this doesn't apply to the videos at YouTube, etc., where people upload video files that they want to share. That's a file, not a stream, so you can copy and save it.

Thanks for the extra, EEEman!

And good going Spyker and Rascal!

The IE Temporary Internet Files folder is so much fun to go through!

Lately, I've been collecting Flash games from that "Wet Pussy Games" site on the home page. Earlier in the thread, I posted the IfranView SWF viewer, with instructions what to look for, when it's installed.

I've got a nice little collection of Shockwave Flash games saved, for playing offline!

I just discovered something interesting! Every so often, someone sneaks in the notorious Meatspin link into their post!

Turns out it's a SWF file! Now, I am not going to post the link, but if you happen to come across it in some thread, and click it (sucker!), then you can save it from your Temporary Internet Files!

Prank your friends offline!

Howdy boyzzzz -- here's another "how can I capture" question.

At <http://forum.onecenter.com/linkdumper/> there's an Erocity ad for 'Todays movie' -- which actually changes daily -- and sends an MMS stream.

I've been able to spot it in the TEMP file -- ####.DAT -- & copy it out as suggested above -- but it doesn't seem to be any kind of normal WMV, ASF, MPG, etc. Suggestions?

Maybe kinda dumb, since it runs nicely on demand, but sometimes there's something worth saving
