Default Firefox Shortcut - A Roundabout Way To Save

For those on Firefox, and don't have IE, here is a tip to get those embeded videos.

Hit Quote on the post that has the video. Copy the video code that's between the embed tags. Then go to YouTube, Metacafe, or wherever the video came from. The embed tags will tell you which site to go to.

Play any video on the site. In the Address Bar, replace that video's code, with the one you copied, and enter it.

It should play that video. Now you can use whichever FF download extension or add-on you use, to download that video.

It's a roundabout way to do it, but it works, I tried it.

Each browser has it's advantages and disadvantages. I use both, depending on what I want to do.

Did you download and install the FLV player? Did you play the video? Did you look for the two types of FLV files, the ones I marked A & B?

Also, did you set View Files by Type?

Try with some new vids. See if those show up ok.

From your last post, is it just those three vids you requested, that are a problem?

I just watched one YouTube vid from the Cheesy Music Videos thread, and it was there waiting for me. It was a type B FLV, from the example.

Are you finding them there at all? Are you copying and renaming the copy first? If it's a type B, are you adding an .flv extension?

I have the same here Spyke, easiest way round i found is copy Url (dont have to play vid)from lets say "you tube" and paste to "keepvid.com" make sure the any site bit to the right says youtube then click d/l. You will then see a link to flv just underneath, d/l using this. When fully d/l go to file and rename say from "get-video to cheesymusic.flv" then it should play through the Flv player. Personally then i associated all Flv files to play in flv player. The only downside with the whole Flv thing is having to rename the files all the time

NB Special thankx to Legz & Eeeman

Good work Spyke by reading your last post yu worked it out for me too, i presumed (maybe like you) that you needed both files when i could only see the 'B' one, changed that works like a dream.

NB You thinking of becoming a programmer Spyke

the only diff doing it through keepvid is you dont have to watch it first if you know you already want to keep it

Thanks again to all
