Default Everything RapidShare (A Dummies guide to rapidshare)

Because we rely on RS so much and have had soooooooooo many threads about it I decided one more was necessary to collect them all in one place, so I went thru and collected all (or most) of them from the past two months. The original title and link followed by the content. I've tried to condense them as much as possible and quoted the original where possible. I also put parenthesis around my own words so there would be no confusion as to who said what. I hope this will help the peeps find the information that they need. Thankz to all who have given the much needed help (and this has helped me, too!)

Code:
Rapget works with Rapidshare.com
Q: How to get Rapget v1.26 to work?
A: download program and SSL libraries on the same page. Login to your rs.com account, go to options, CHECK the "direct-downloads" box and hit save.

Rapidshare upload question
Q: what the differences are in the upload options...?
A: That's just a choice between different networks

Rapidshare.de or Rapidshare.com?
Q: How do I get back into my RS.com premium after re-newing a RS.de premium account a few days late? (shortened question)
A: You can only use the .de account to get a .com account once, there's nothing you can do besides pay for an extended .com account.

rapidshare.com files missing... READ B4 FLAMING
Q: uploaded 2 files just the other day, and people can still download them as far as I know, but only 1 is showing up in my premium-zone. Both links still work. Has anyone else run into this glitch? Used rapiduploader.
A: I guess if you wanna get those points you best upload that file again

Rapidshare problem
Q: Friend wants to download a file from rapidshare... always gets the information that he should enable javascript.
A: Depends on his browser and (if on firefox) what extensions he's running

So What The Fuck Is Up With Rapid Share????
Q: sign(ed) up for a premium...use(d) there system for about 2 stinking weeks...Anybody else ran into this problem?
A: (directions on how to transfer from RS.de to RS.com)

Sexuploader (Megarotic) is faster than rapidshare: Here's some proof!
(discussion on merits of different file hosts

Rapidshare.de and Rapidshare.com questions answered
(how to transfer premium account from RS.de to RS.com)

rapidshare.de to RapidShare.com
Q: I have rapidshare.de account how do I get my RapidShare.de Code in so I can switch too .com.
A: (links to instructions on how to change)

An idiot needs some help
Q: I just paid for a new rapidshare.com premium account but I but typed the wrong email address in when I registered. Anyone else ever have this problem or have any suggestions?
A: After a number of angry emails and threats I managed to get them to sort it out
To be continued...

'Bout time I updated this...
Code:
Rapidshare Mulitple Uploading
Q. When trying to upload multiple files to the RS multiple upload page does it give “The connection was reset The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading”?
A. Uploading multiple large files within your browser is not the best instead use RapidUploader.

Q. While uploading files why does the progress bar disappear when I switch pages?
A. If you leave the page while uploading you lose it. Use RapidUploader 1.11 http://rapidshare.com/en/rapiduploader.html

Q. When I upload one particular file it shows 100% but no link appears. Why?
A. Some files are already on RS and can't be reloaded or have been "reported" Add a small text file to change the file size and markers.

RS help (for the million'th time)
Q. What do I do with files that I've downloaded?
A. Files ending in .001, .002, etc = Use HJSplit to join them. Files ending in .rar, zip, etc = use WinZip or WinRAR to extract them.

Deleted files from Rapidshare
Q. How can I protect files from being reported and deleted by RS?
A. The short answer: Not much. Protection sites just slow down the reporter but can get deleted anyway. Also some protection sites are not allowed on AS. See HERE. http://forum.anothersite.co.uk/showthread.php?t=116698 Can't get into rapidsafe.de
Q. Why can't I get anything but "PLEASE WAIT WHILE LOADING"?
A. Enable JavaScript.

Q. Why can't I get in when I use IE6?
A. May be spy ware.

Rapidshare Downloader - The Grabber
(Links for this program.)
Q. Why can't I get it to work?
A. Rapidshare keeps changing its activation numbers. Register at http://www.cmszone.org/ to keep updated

Download Unlimited From RS ~ 06-02-07 (This is not the grabber!)
Discussion and links for RapidDown. Most think it's spyware or junkware.

Rapidshare Protection
General discussion and a challenge to see if actual RS link can be found. It can and nothing can be done to actually protect RS files from deletion.

Rapidshare
Q. Where can I find links to files hosted on RS?
A. Good instructions on how to do a specific Google search.

RapidUpload trouble?
Problem with RapidUploader solved with using newest version.

Rapidshare Help Please...
Q. What can I do about RS only downloading 70-80% of file and then hanging?
A. internet download manager.

A. Give it a try and find out.

Rapidshare problem...
Q. Why am I having problems downloading?
A. RS was down while changing servers.

Rapidshare, .com vs .de
Q. Why does everyone seem to prefer Rapidshare.com over Rapidshare.de?
A. You can't upload on .de anymore.

rapget or other program without paid account?

I propose this thread for sticky status and the title to be renamed
"Rapidshare! - Read Before Posting" Or something to that effect.

So can this thread also be used as a place to ask Rapidshare questions, or is it better to create a separate thread?

If your question is not answered in the above posts I'd create a new one. You did read through the posts above didn't you?

Yes, though not the actual threads linked to. I do have a rapidshare problem, and I was wondering if it would be preferred that people post question here or in another single thread, instead of seeing new Rapidshare threads every week.

It doesn't really matter to me either way. I just wanted to know whether others would prefer separate threads or one big thread.

I think the idea of this thread is to draw your attention to all the rapidshare threads as there are many and your problem/question has more than likely been asked and answered. If you find no joy above then start a new thread or post in here.

The problem I've been having is when I try to upload a zip file. It's about 60 MB, and I can also get Rapidshare to start uploading it. The problem is that when it's done uploading, the page automatically refreshes, just as if you click on the Refresh Page button yourself, and then the file just isn't on the list. I've uploaded another file in between attempts, and had no problem with that one.

It doesn't show up because it has been reported before.
Rapidshare ban files on its MD5 check sum which looks like this:
MD5: 2C0302744ADC5610476BE39BAA50381F

Doesn't matter what name you give it once the file is on their server they calculate the MD5 and if it has already been banned you will not get a download link.
If your zip file is a couple of videos add the screen caps .jpeg to it and this will give it a different MD5 number and it can be uploaded.

I have this in my Send To menu
MD5 generator

Would re-naming the file have the same effect? I've had files that wouldn't upload and then would when re-named. I'm not familiar with what the MD5 does or is for so could you elaborate?

Never mind... I read that link you gave and now I have a better understanding of the MD5 process. Still not 100% with it but I get the "gist".

Okay, thanks for the help with getting the file uploaded. I didn't do those things about MD5 in that link though, as I'm not so good with such things. What I instead did, was to remove something pretty meaningless before zipping the files into one archive. That did the trick as it was then a different file from the one I had previously tried to upload.

Now I'm thinking if such sitiuations could be handled by simply adding something small to an archive. Like a small blank document or something. Just something that would make it a different file. That could be more work that in that MD5 link above, but just if people can't figure that out.
