Default Roddy Piper Arrested For DUI

WWE Hall of Famer Roddy Piper was given a field sobriety test when he was pulled over by LAPD.
When Piper reportedly failed the test, he was arrested and booked at a local jail in Los Angeles County, reports entertainment news outlet TMZ.

Default Edge news

Edge Injured At WWE House Show
Ivan B. sent along the following to 24Wrestling.com:

Quote:
I am attending a WWE house show here in San Diego, CA. and I just witnessed Edge get injured during his match with Jeff Hardy.

He was running towards Jeff and appeared to have either twisted or even broken his ankle. His foot was in a very awkward position. The match was immediatley stopped.

EMTs came running to attend him and he was helped out of the ring. He even took the time to take the mic and say "sorry" to the fans.

Edge Injury Update: Possibly Out Until 2010
At last night's WWE house show in San Diego, Edge suffered a torn Achilles heel tendon. Depending on the severity, the injury could keep him out of the ring until January 2010.

Edge has been working through several nagging injuries as of late, but wasn't able to get his schedule lightened due to the fact that he was the top star on SmackDown.

Obviously, WWE is going to have to figure out a plan to move the Unified Tag titles off of Edge and Chris Jericho shortly.

That's not good.

Maybe they'll move Edge to the announcer's table for a while. He'd be good at it.

Default Unhappiness & Speculation Within WWE Over Drug Testing

Source: Wrestling Observer

There is said to be some strong unhappiness regarding the drug testing in WWE recently and more specifically in the wake of what happened with Umaga (Eddie Fatu).
While there has always been a problem with fines for smoking marijuana, the big issue seems to be with how legit the testing process is when it comes to some of the bigger stars in the company and if they are being excused.
While there is no real evidence to indicate this actually took place, there was discussion among WWE talent in the last few months seeming to indicate that a big star failed a steroid test and that it was covered up.

Others in the company who don't feel it is true point to Jeff Hardy as an example of how a big star who was suspended just shortly before WrestleMania 24 in 2008 and that it doesn't matter what spot you are in or how popular you are.
Either way, it got people talking backstage and created some interesting conversations.

Default PPV name change

WWE has apparently changed it's mind about renaming the October 25th pay-per-view as WWE.com has the event listed as Cyber Sunday again. Last week, the website switched the name of the event to Annihilation

Default WWE.com Announces Edge's Injury

The following is from WWE.com:
WWE Unified Tag Team Champion, Edge suffered a tear to his Achilles tendon last Friday, July 3, during a WWE live event in San Diego. Edge's opponent was the man with whom he has traded the WWE Championship, Jeff Hardy.

Almost immediately after the bout started, Edge was in his corner when Hardy charged toward him. After attempting to leapfrog Hardy, Edge crumbled to the canvas. Hardy was backed off by the referee, who checked repeatedly with Edge before summoning WWE doctors and athletic trainers and instructing ring announcer Justin Roberts that because Edge could not continue, Jeff Hardy was the winner of the match via forfeit. WWE referees, athletic trainers and doctors then helped Edge to the back as he could bear no weight on his left ankle.

Edge arrived at Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center at St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, Ala., this morning to surgically repair the torn Achilles tendon in his left ankle. Dr. James Andrews currently has Edge's operation scheduled for 10 a.m. ET. Dr. Andrews has previously performed surgeries on WWE Superstars Batista, Triple H, John Cena, Rey Mysterio and many others. Andrews also consulted on NFL quarterback Tom Brady after his third knee surgery and most recently worked with Brett Favre for his possible return to the NFL.

WWE.com will attempt to have comments from both Dr. Andrews and Edge later today, including a timeline for Edge's return to the ring.

WWE.com will also investigate how this injury will affect the status of the Unified Tag Team Titles, as well as Edge & Chris Jericho's scheduled match with Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase at Night of Champions.

Default Jerry Lawler Considering Running For Major Of Memphis

Jerry Lawler has commented to The Sun in the UK about the possibility of him running for Mayor of Memphis, Tennessee in the upcoming special election. "I am going to do some media interviews and see what level of support is out there before I officially declare" said Lawler, who stated he would be an "alternative" to the "political circus that we have been living in for the past 18 years". Lawler said he would make an announcement by the end of the week.

For more comments from Lawler, click here. Thanks to Brian Smith for sending the link along.

Lawler ran for Mayor a decade ago, losing to current Mayor Willie Herenton in 1999. Lawler garnered 12% of the votes, finishing behind Herenton and Joe Ford. Herenton recently announced his plans to retire from the position, setting up the special election.

Default J.R. Praises DiBiase, Urges Lawler Not To Run, & More

Jim Ross has posted a new blog on his official website.
Below are highlights:

- The Million Dollar Man, Ted DiBiase, came off as the shining star of the program in my view. MDM was a new face/voice and add a fresh element to the show that worked for me. Every weekly, episodic TV broadcast, including and especially a wrestling show needs "new" and DiBiase provided "new."

- DiBiase's promos felt natural and on point. Give the man some bullet points and turn him loose. Good, verbal stuff all night from Teddy....hey, I've known him since day one and I can call him Teddy if I choose. I saw the man wrestle Murdoch and Ric Flair on Mid South Wrestling so back off, Jack!

- RKO vs. DiBiase=A Wrestlemania Main Event some day in this decade.

- Matt Hardy has had surgery according to Matt Hardy so I guess we won't be seeing Matt on SD for a few weeks. Matt needs some good luck and a few main event ops. My advice to Matt is to rely on your instincts, Twitter your ass off while you are on the mend, come back with the mindset that no one is better, don't date any more Divas, and do not use one, Dr. Heiney. I'm just saying.

- Jerry Lawler can't be serious about running for Mayor of Memphis again. Can he? Why King Why? If Lawler becomes Mayor of Memphis and if somebody in Hollywood doesn't produce a reality show on it or document King's term for a feature length film someone is not paying attention. Just say no Jerry.

Default Matt Hardy Speaks On Surgery, Says Intestines Exploded

SmackDown superstar Matt Hardy had surgery last week to repair a bad tear in his abdominal muscles and will be out of action for 8-10 weeks during his recovery.
Matt posted the following message last night on his MySpace page detailing just how bad the injury was before he went under the knife.
After working with an abdominal tear for the past 2 years, his intestines "exploded out through [his] abdominal wall" during a recent match on WWE Superstars.

Here's the full message from Myspace.com/theonlymatthardy.com:

Quote:
Well guys and gals, since the news has been leaked all over the 'net, I figured I should go ahead and address it truthfully. Yes, the rumors are true, I had some major surgery a couple of day ago. The triple threat match against MVP and Kofi in Green Bay was the straw that broke the camel's back. In a few days, I'm gonna blog on my WWE Universe page and fill everyone in on everything.

But here's a little taste of how tough and annoying the last 2 years of my life has been. For two years, I've been working with a slight abdominal tear, a genetic defect that I was actually born with. Even though we torture ourselves every night in that ring for each of your guy's entertainment.. But don't get me wrong, we love it and chose to do it. The tear hasn't been anything that has really over-affected me performance-wise.. Until.. My appendectomy. From when I returned in April 2008, my abdominal tear became gradually worse. I was having a U.S. Title run I was very proud of.. So I sucked it up! I became the ECW Champion, and was having one of the best runs of my career, and the abdominal injury really started bothering me.. So I sucked it up! I wanted to get it fixed before it got really bad.. BUT.. I had an issue with Jeff on TV which would ultimately lead us to wrestling one another at THE show of all shows, Wrestlemania. So I sucked it up and got through it! Basically, in a nutshell, my intestines were slowly tearing through my abdomen.. Which affected my training greatly, my in-ring work, and my physical appearance. My intestines were slowly swelling because they were all outta wack and protruding through my abdominal wall. But I sucked it up and gave everything I had. I haven't been able to do a sit-up in two years. And as I totally expected, The lil "wanna be cool guys" that feel like bad-asses behind a keyboard LOVED to make comments about my weight gain because I was being lazy. Little did they know, or yet probably even care, that I've stayed constantly frustrated that I was dealing with these serious complications. Honestly, I only care about the personal friends and family that I have, that know my true deal.. It's only their opinions I take serious and to heart. Anybody who writes about me, whether good or bad, but especially bad.. I couldn't care less. I just say thanks for keeping me in the news.

The night in Green Bay, when Kofi gave me a cross body from the top rope, my intestines exploded out through my abdominal wall.. And not just in one spot, but in two spots. I had to have it fixed, or face major health problems.. Problems that could have killed me. So as always, I do what's good for me, my career, friends, and loved ones. Hateful, ignorant comments made on the world wide web certainly doesn't bothered me-but sometimes give me a good laugh.. And my world is a world those people will never experience.

I can actually get into the shape I wanna be in now.. Very excited about that. It's sushi time peeps, I'll be back soon to blog for guys again. Be well, and until then..

I saw Monday Night Raw, and DiBiase did a fine job as the guest host!

But I'm wondering about Edge. Is RAW live, or pre-recorded? Because I didn't see any sign of Edge showing an injury.
