Rant David Beckham

alright so me and a few of my buddies made the trip to Frisco, TX last night to watch FC Dallas play LA Galaxy, thinking that seeing Beckham and Donovan in action live would be worth the money it would cost to drive 5 hours each way, food, beers, and any other various things we might find that we couldn't live without

now all that being said this had to be the single worst soccer match I have ever seen (and I have coach under 10 girls ) in the sixteenth minute Dallas was up 1-0 in the seventeenth Dallas was up 2-0 both goals due to Kenny Cooper all the while no action from either player we drove to see they weren't even attacking the fuggin ball now in the thirty third minute it is now 3-0 Dallas with still no reason for spending my money then we get all the way to the eighty ninth minute where finally the score is 4-0 thats right the entire game went by with nothing of notice except for the complete domination by Dallas

I feel so cheated because because thanks to the Cowboys and their shit hole town there is no way I can ever bring myself to root for anyone from Dallas no matter the sport but I just wanted to vent for my $200 trip and the lack of results thanks galaxy and go fug yourselves

now thats my take on the $250,000,000 man

I like soccer I mean it's not like I'm watching 9 thugs run back and forth touching each others asses *cough* basketball *cough*

all they do in soccer is fall down and roll around for 2 minutes after someone touches them

which I hate

get up pussy and play the damn game

I think the MLS threw their money away when they hired Beckham at this cost. With that money they could easily have afforded a busload of really good players that would actually have improved the overall performance of the league. Beckham is satiated and all he cares about is to keep Mrs. Scarecrow happy with a constant cash flow. Football has become meaningless to him, while money is the big incentive or he wouldn't have moved to the US in the first place. Nor to Madrid since I'm already at it.

Actually they profit because of him. Problem is, the rest of his team sucks. At least now, they are a competitive team in the league. Where he goes, the people show. He causes the high attendance. He was a smart move for the Galaxy. Too bad soccer is just a sport for the children with hot moms.

is it really a bargain for them? I read that the average attendance dropped quite a bit since last season, both for Galaxy home games and road games, and I think they still have a losing record. How are they gonna generate 50 million bucks in rvenue with these numbers?

His salary isn't $50 mil.

And here is a bit from earlier in the month
GALAXY leading MLS in attendance, with 26,000 average (home and away) in first half of 2008 season

MVNsoccer posted 26 days ago from mvn.com
July 2 --- MVN Soccer: The Galaxy will play their 15th match of the season this Independence Day, marking their halfway point of 2008, at the top of the Western Conference. --- Looking at their first 14 regular-season games, they had a league-leading average of 25,978, home and away. --- Half of these were sold out, and two of the away matches even topped 35,000.

... Not bad for "Soccer" in the states. But the league needs more than Beck. They need more players spread around the league with international popularity. Beck is the biggest name though.

im a big beckham fan, but i think his decision to go to the MLS was cash motivated. undertandably as he is now set for his family for life with the earnings he's getting. i also believe the bigest influences in his move came from his sponsorship backing, i.e Adidas, Gillette, Pepsi, all big american brands (yes i know Adidas is German but i bet the majority of its sales is from US team wear, NFL, NBA etc) i was over there 2 weeks ago and his face was everyware in the sport shops.

he is a fantastic footballer, not at the top of his game anymore but i think its due to the players arround him, in school my sports teacher had the saying "a player is only as good as his team mates". i think this is true in his case, wether its others tryin too hard to shine like him but failing or just that there is that big gap between MLS and European football.

i agree with Lomax that the league need more international stars, but that is unlikely to happen anytime soon as most still see it a the place retired footballers go to play, if you get what i mean.
