*sigh*

Talk of hockey makes me sad ever since the lock-out and rule changes. I used to love hockey...the last time the Avalanche won the Cup I went to around 25 or 30 games that year and the first round of playoff games as well...it was awesome

But then the stupid players and owners had to have the go 'round over money and the league office just had to keep tinkering with the rules. There was nothing wrong with the rules to begin with! I don't want to watch a 9-8 hockey game! I want the real NHL back

[/rant]

I grew up in New England so I was a huge fan of the B's and I loved seing Ray win the Cup here, it was a great feeling to see him hold it over his head and it was pure class when instead of being the first to skate around with it because he was the Captain, Sakic handed the Cup over to Bourque. That moment brought a tear to my eye.

I haven't seen the new jerseys being brought out this year, so I'll have to gfo see what they look like...

Ahh yes the rule changes. While they did make the game faster they also took some the heavy hits and fights out the game. The new rules make it hard for a heavy hitter or enforcer to make it. Bertuzzi used to be well rounded in the hit and scoring departments until his little stick shananagans.

I'm a Canucks fan. I like The Leafs in the East. Sorry, I haven't seen any new jerseys yet, but your pick looks good enough.

Ice Hockey?

What do you think we'll talk about...field hockey? Ball hockey, Road hockey, table hockey....hockey, hockey, hockey,

Listen or sing along to the song as my friends play the international hockey hit!

http://www.jughead.tv/ 3rd sond on the right!

The Hockey Song (Smith, James, Good and Phillips) ©1992

Performed & written by Jughead.

So there I was, over in Paris
Eating wine and drinking cheese
And this guy comes up to me and he says
“ Where are you from?”
Well, I says “Yeah, I’m from Canada”
And he says “Zoot Allure, mon Dieu, you are from Canada? Do you play hockey?”
And I says “Do I play hockey?

Chorus
Well, I play Air hockey, Ball hockey, Barn Hockey, Bubble Hockey, Field hockey,
Floor hockey, Ice hockey, Kitchen hockey, Road hockey,Roller hockey, Table hockey, Twist hockey
And I play hockey, hockey, hockey, hockey, hockey, hockey, hockey, hockey, hockey,
hockey, hockey, hockey, hockey, hockey, hockey all the time!
Take shots!

So there I was way out in California
And this guy comes up to me and he says
“ Where are you from dude?”
Well, I says “Yeah, I’m from Canada”
And he says "Wow! Where are you from dude?”
And I says "Look I'm from Canada"
And he says “Wow. If you’re from Canada? Do you like, play hockey?”
And I says “Do I play hockey?

Chorus

So there I was way down under in Australia
And this guy comes up to me and he says
“ Where are you from?”
Well, I says “Yeah, I’m from Canada”
And he says “Do right, honey child. If you’re from Canada? Do you play hockey?”
And I says “Do I play hockey?

Chorus

He shoots. He scores!

Or some fans of the song found here

I too used to love watching the NHL...Hell the first ever club (team now) and league, the NHA (precursor to the NHL) was born right near me as the Renfrew Millionaires.

After numerous rejections and snubs, the O'Brien's finally and simply just created their own League, and called it the National Hockey Association (NHA). M.J. financed four teams in the League: the Renfrew Creamery Kings which became the Renfrew Millionaires, Cobalt, Haileybury and Les Canadiens of Montreal. Within a month, the Montreal Wanderers also joined to became the fifth team.

Read the rest of the short interesting story here! http://www.nhlbirthplace.ca/Milliona...llionaires.htm

As you can imagine there is rabid fan interest in this area, the Ottawa Valley!
But now there is so much business and so little sport, its not much fun anymore. The average family needs to spend nearly $500-1000 just to go see a game. No thanks! I will watch it on TV but my team
is relegated from their god-like status to mere mortal. They only have 3 years to win a championship in every decade since inception and the baseball Bronx Bombers are threatening their long standing pro sports most championship wins record.

Of course our Canadian lads just finished trouncing the Russian fellas 7-0-1 in an 8 game commemorative summit series. (see 1972 series)

I hope this helped you!

Its just hockey, not ice hockey!

I think they are trying to make hockey more appealing to "U.S. Americans" as Miss South Carolina would say; by taking out fighting and higher scoring. I think there is still need for an enforcer. I'll take "Old Time Hockey" any day of the week. My team is the Stars, but the Canadians have the best sweater, Hartford's was great too.

Yeah, simple but brilliant design.

I don't really follow the NHL closely. When I was still at school and hed more time to waste, I did though and loved the Oilers.

i don't know anything about hockey except for Wayne Gretzky is considered to be the Michael Jordan of that game. I've tried watching a bit of New Jersey devils' games but never clicked onto it.
