Jets 20, Dolphins 14

Can one man make a difference? If it's Brett Farve, yes.

It was really interesting watching him lead a team he's still learning about. Yes, he had a good passing day, with 2 TDs and about 200 yds. Yes, he certainly handled the mechanics of the offence well.

But it's something else I noticed, that sets him apart from most quarterbacks. During the game, you could see him pointing things out to his teammates, showing them things... he was actually coaching them on the field!

Let's face it, Brett Farve has seen and done it all. He has more experience than many head coaches. When he's on the field, he's more than a passer and play runner, he's a coach to the others!

And having an experienced coach on the field with them, is going to make the Jets a force to be reckoned with!

Sources: Brady out with ACL tear
By Michael Silver, Yahoo! Sports

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is expected to miss the rest of the 2008 season with what two sources described as a severe injury to his left knee, suffered in the first quarter of the Pats’ 17-10 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs at Gillette Stadium Sunday.

While New England coach Bill Belichick said in his postgame press conference that he had no update on the status of Brady’s injury, a source close to the quarterback indicated it involved serious damage to the knee. That could include a torn anterior cruciate ligament and perhaps other ligament and cartilage damage.

“It’s bad,” a team source said. “We’re going to have to play without him.”

Brady was hurt as he stepped up in the pocket to make a throw to wideout Randy Moss. Chiefs safety Bernard Pollard, who was on the ground, lunged forward and struck Brady’s leg, which buckled as he released the ball.

Brady was helped off the field and was later led down a staircase by team officials, presumably to undergo tests.

Fourth-year quarterback Matt Cassel, who had thrown just 39 passes in his career before Sunday, replaced Brady and completed 13 of 18 passes for 152 yards and a touchdown. Cassel, who backed up Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart at USC, hasn’t been a starting quarterback since high school. He won a competition with Matt Gutierrez during the preseason to retain the job as Brady’s primary backup.

You do realize that it was only the Dolphins right? They won 1 whole game last year and all reports say they won't be much better this year...

Favre still did some impressive stuff today. I'm sure he'll will at least 2 wins out of that team with his attitude. A wildcard wouldn't surprise me

That play-action was a thing of beauty. I was watching the game live and was highly impressed by the execution to the point that the ensuing touchdown didn't even register

Miami looked their age today.

I'm not taking anything away from Favre, I'm just pointing out that it was against the Dolphins

we need to get blockers healthy and ASAP. Garrard got hit a bunch and the run game did nothing, we need a bye already and we just started

Absolutely right! There's a whole season left to go, and time will tell. But it was a good start!

The Jets have done a lot of rebuilding since last year. Before they picked up Farve, they were predicted to win 8 games. With Farve guiding the offense, they're an honest shot to win at least 10, and get into the playoffs.

Yep, Farve still has it! When he avoided that sack, and threw the touchdown, it was vintage Brett Farve!
