| Mike Lowell - your former Florida Marlin. Damn I wish we still had him. He sure looks happy in Boston.

| The Marlins didn't want him anymore...they made the Red Sox take him in the Beckett deal...no Lowell, no Beckett. And I'm glad the Marlins did that...he has been awesome in Boston and he's played great for us

| The scary thing was: Lowell's bomb was the biggest shot. Varitek didn't get cheated, but man Lowell hit that thing like it was shot out of a cannon. All about Pitching. Yankees arms are banged up, and the rotation wasn't set. Boston's best punch sweeps a makeshift Yankees lineup. Everyone on their game, and Yankees are the better team. I'll keep saying that to myself ![]()

| Cliff Lee looks like he will be back in Cleveland's rotation very soon after one more rehab game in the minors. A great bit of news for the Tribe. We are on a winning streak - two in a row with an extra innings victory over the Twins yesterday and Pronk went 4 for 4 to up his batting average to .390

| Damn...2 more homers for E-Rod last nite...the guy is on fire... As much as I hate him, I hate that cheater Bonds more and I really hope E-Rod passes 73 homers this year and takes the tainted record away from the cheater. Good news is, even tho he had 2 more last night, Yanks still lost...to the D-Rays of all teams!

| You are totally right - And it still makes me utterly sick. I still have my Mike Lowell 2000 souvenir drink cup and I use it almost every day. I wish he was still a Marlin. At least I can still root for him since I really like the Red Sox too...

| I was a bit skeptical at first when I saw that the Marlins made taking Lowell the make or break part of the deal for Beckett, especially since Lowell was coming off a sub-par season and the rather large salary he had coming to him. But getting Beckett was a definite need and I'm glad the Sox pulled the trigger. He won me over quickly - he is such a team player and he has given the Red Sox a great 3rd baseman. I thought it was absurd when he was mentioned in trade rumors in the offseason and I am glad to see they were unfounded. He is off to a great start and I think he will have an even better season than he did last year!

I'm not single'ng you out here, but out of curiosity what makes you "hate" A Rod? The dislike of Bonds is easy, practically a smoking gun. Having been a fan of ARod since he was in Seattle, I'm curious when someone shows "hate" for him in baseball talk. If it is the whole not knowing when to say "no comment" I can understand that. The money issue always buggs me. YES, it was a ton of money. On the other hand it was/is Garnett/Manning/O'Neal type money. Few things to take into context with that $252million deal: -he was 25 (he has been/is/projected to be if not THE best, one of the best players of all time) and it was a 10yr deal. -From a Texas standpoint they were trying to kill several birds with one stone. They had (Palmaiero/Pudge/Caminiti/Galaraga) in that lineup. They were trying to win, getting a player to appeal to a wider fan base, probably had his numbers in mind (HOF, possibly Aaron's record). That would have all been in a Ranger cap. - Sometimes easy to forget that he was argued as the best SS in the game at the time. And he did produce there. Won an MVP. Again, not picking a fight but it's too easy to site only $$. And all those Boston fans always bring up money when they damn near had A-Rod signed in a deal w/Texas. RedSox nation should not forget that they were brilliant enough to let Damon go and sign Crisp. Who, by the way bats 8or9 most nights.

| I can hate E-Rod for a number of reasons, but since you brought up money, let's start with the one reason you said that I can't hate him for... Yes, he was almost a member of the BoSox...but what kept him away....let's think about that a second.... ![]() Oh yeah, money! And not a lot of money....instead, he ends up being yet another in the long line of mercenaries that play for the freaking Yankees...the only good thing is that E-Rod does a disappearing act in the playoffs, so good riddance...I'm glad he ended up being another greedy bastard (Just like Johnny 'I'll never play for thye Yankees' Damon....fucking traitor). Yeah, I can see why he turned down the Boston deal...that 10 million or so that was the difference really would have caused the poor guy to go broke. E-Rod, the human 3rd base error machine, and the Yankees deserve each other. World Championships since the deal: Red Sox - 1 Yankees - 0

I didn't say, actually that you couldn't hate him for the money. Just that I find that argument shallow, by some. You sound like a RedSox fan, so I'll point out Manny. He made plenty of money (enough to not "go broke" as you say) in Cleveland. Yet he left. That happens, not only in sports. I don't know what you do, but I'm sure if your employer was not willing to pay you the same as another for the same job....you'd possibly go for the extra money. I think it get's overplayed that money is the sole reason for players moving. Maybe A-Rod is money hungry. Boston has high paid guys too, not too forget. I'm sure there's an Indains fan that shares your comptempt for Damon/Yankees except changes it to Manny/RedSox.

| You can't possbly be comparing a professional athlete's salary to that of an average person can you? We're not talking about a salary raise for an average joe of $10,000 a year (which is a LOT of money to most people)....we're talking less than $10 million dollars on over a $120 million dollar contract....that's pocket change to these guys! What, if he went to the Red Sox and only got $110 million instead of $120 million he wouldn't be able to scrape by? He won't be able to buy food for the weekend? Please...it's all about being amercenary and E-Rod is the worst of the bunch. The deal was all but done to bring him to Boston and he backed out. The deal was done and he renegged. You can't even compare him to Manny because the Indians first didn't offer him even close to what the Red Sox did and second, Manny didn't already verbally agree to a deal withe the Indians, back out, and then sign with the Red Sox. Apples and Oranges....you can't compare the two. As for Johnny 'Burn in Hell' Damon, he said on national TV that there was no way he would play for the Yankees and that he would resign with Boston...and we all saw what happened there. Like I said, those liars and the Yankees deserve each other.

| Another big series with the BoSox and Yanks...this time in the Bronx...Yanks have dropped 6 in a row and are in last place...I doubt they'll stay there, but it sure is nice to see! Dice-K is on the hill for the Sox and he is starting to scare me...that 4.00 ERA is unacceptable...I hope he can settle down to how he looked in his first couple of starts, not the last few ![]()
