That's a pretty inflammatory question. Just because someone is an atheist doesn't mean they hate Christianity. In fact, I submit that it's the religious types that are harsh towards atheists, not the other way around.

yeah indeed the 2nd sentence is more for people who don't have a high-esteem of Christianity;

I take some examples:

some atheists like myself just don't believe in nothing but have nothing against any other religion: "I'm atheist, u r Christian or Muslim? WTF it's ur business, not mine"

but there r others who are atheists and who can have like hatred against a certain religion because something in their lives turned wrong and they reject it against religion: "I lost my dad last year, damn though I believed in God, what did You do? Fuck u!

Good answer. I just think the Catholic church is just so full of shit, especially since they're been so close to collapsing throughout history. I could go on and on about why i don't believe in God, mainly the judeo-christian one, but i have lectures to go to.

I don't know nor have I ever met any atheists that act like that towards people of faith. Maybe there are some, but I've never seen any.

I still stand by my statement, there are more religious people that are hostile towards atheists than the other way around...

Well, I never believed in God from the beginning. I'm the type of person more inclined in believing nature created man rather than a omnipotent diety. Not a hippie.

I'm not that hateful towards christianity, but I do get annoyed at certain sect(s) trying to convert me. Their efforts are futile offcourse.

Islam is to be mentioned here: following the Coran, everyone who's not Muslim hasn't the same worth as a Muslim because the true religion is Islam and the rest is futile; that can serve as a pretext for Al Qaida fighters for example to free the world from devil spirits and to enlighten it with the universal religion which is Islam;

on the other hand, there are religious people who are hostile towards atheists but I think t's more the deeply religious people, those who want to attract constantly new people into their religions like imams etc...

i dislike religeon for the hypocracy.......all preach peace yet all at each others throats.........and..........some like catholicism are some of the richest organisations going yet i dont see them dipping in contributing to aid in third world countries.....theyve always got thier cap out asking for more..........and while we are on catholicism....here we have a faith that condemns homosexuality yet covers up all the child abusing priests!

i may dislike religeon but i dont mind if someone else 'believes'......just dont preach to me........if i want to know i will go and find out

I guess i went agnostic around 12 or 13, my arse hurt too much from sitting on the fence but i can't remember when i 'turned' atheist. There was no life changing event, just a realisation that religion was bs.

Yes but isn't that the same of pretty much all religions ? They all purport to be the one true faith and you'll get yours in the afterlife if you haven't backed the right horse. Of course Islam is still putting infidels to the sword right now,whereas judo-christianity has calmed down a bit,but then again,it had a few hundred years head start

I think, with respect to those that harass others over religion, it has nothing to do with the religion at all. I think it has more to do with the feelings of worthlessness they feel in their pathetic empty lives. I've known atheists and religious types with satisfying hobbies and extracurricular activities that filled their lives and were more like "Whatever makes you happy... live and let live" rather than "Join us you infidel!!!".

If you're an atheist or a religious person who feels the need to dump on other people because of what they believe... get a hobby... go build a house... or do something that resembles volunteer work instead of sitting around fuming over the idiotic notion that the world has to believe in what you believe.
