Interesting To make it on TV, women have to be f . . . able

But I think she's still f...able

Channel Nine viewed women as 'sex objects'

FEMALE journalists at the Nine Network were discussed as "sex objects", according to documents filed in a $560,000 damages claim by dumped reporter Christine Spiteri.

Documents with the Federal Court yesterday reveal the network's head of news John Westacott allegedly told female journalists: "To make it in this game, women have to be f . . . able."

Spiteri, 40, was told while on maternity leave her contract, which expires next month, would not be renewed.

She lodged a complaint last December with the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission, alleging she was the victim of discrimination on the grounds of sex, race and her parental responsibilities.

She also began action in the Federal Court, claiming Nine engaged in deceptive or misleading conduct in breach of the Trade Practices Act.

uh, so her contract ran out

it's not compulsory to renew them is it? otherwise it's kind of daft to set a time limit on them in the first place if it's going to be mandatory to repeat it until the employee decides to move on

maybe someone more suitable for the position had applied for it; sounds like a case of sour grapes coz she's not getting things her own way

whether she was let go for legit reasons or not, if she can prove in court that this dude actually said this, there are gonna be heads rolling.

it might well just be a case of sour grapes on her part, but if the head of the network's news department really said this in front of witnesses, the lady will likely get some kind of setlement, probably out of court. She might need whatever she gets, because getting a new job in her chosen field, might be a little tough after all this is finished.
