Interesting How pigheaded are the Conservatives about Liberal ideas

I can semi vote for Huckabee, basically cause he seems to be open to the idea of spending money on our country to make it better. He may seems to be open to the Union. He seems to be realistic about taxation. I don't like how religious he is nor his stance on abortion but that isn't as important to me. ( it would be interesting to see if he reached out to Edward's some how)

All that said i have heard some things about him being too liberal, not conservative. I know this might be the minority of the republicans but can this really stop him from getting elected? But i thought being as religious as he is, as anti-abortion as he is, from the south, and as straight forward as he seems to be is really about 80% of what republicans look for. Can you be liberal at all when it comes to being a republican? How many conservatives are turned off by his liberal standings?

Here is a link to a anti-Huckabee site.

Huckabee's too liberal? I thought he was a Creationist, who wanted creationism taught in schools? I haven't read his policies (or any of them's) too closely, since none of them seem to have any actual policies that they'll admit to or stick to, but I never thought he was considered a liberal.

I don't know much though. And like you say, that would be his religious beliefs, not necessarily his political ones. He seems like a nice enough guy, if a little dumb.

I just looked at that site. Unbelievable. I'm starting to think the old rule is true - "Every organisation is run by secret agents of it's enemies."

I thought it was just leftists who always turned on and destroyed each other whenever power came within their grasp? seems the right does it too.

I thought Ron Paul was the odd man out in the Republican side. Too much to learn about these candidates.

i really do think that media has made politics a lot worst. After they got Nixon the only thing the media and everyone involved in politics does now is try to destroy the canidate for the dumiest reasons.

You make a good point. Huckabee and Ron Paul illustrate that "conservative" means different things to different people. For Huckabee it means right-to-life and Creationism. For Ron Paul it means basically leaving people the hell alone.

I think Americans are more moderate and more generous than our politicians give them credit for.

There's a lot to disagree with about Huckabee . . . but he's a decent guy, who genuinely seems to want the lives of ordinary Americans to be better. I can respect that, even if I don't agree with him on a lot of things. . . compare to W, who wouldn't recognize an ordinary American if he tripped over one.

So Huckabee might not be my choice, but I'm glad he's running, and part of the debate.

Actually this is really a question not a statement.

Does his liberal views on some things really stand a chance at him not being elected, despite all the conservative ideas he has. I think the guy from New England is the guy that is really going after him for his liberalism. And this criticism is equal too the level criticism that others get.
