| ![]() ![]() "This has been the most terrible crime ever committed in the state of Indiana" Synopsis: Based on a true story that shocked the nation in 1965, the film recounts one of the most shocking crimes ever committed against a single victim. Sylvia and Jennie Fae Likens, the two daughters of traveling carnival workers are left for an extended stay at the Indianapolis (3850 E. New York St. is hardly suburban, nor was it in 1965, by any stretch of the imagination.) home of single mother Gertrude Baniszewski and her seven children. Times are tough, and Gertrude's financial needs cause her to make this arrangement before realizing how the burden will push her unstable nature to a breaking point. What transpires in the next three months is both riveting and horrific, leaving one child dead and the rest scarred for life. Full Story: http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/n.../likens/1.html So my fiance randomly rented this movie b/c shes a huge fan of Ellen Page, and I hesitantly sat down to watch it with her. I've gotta say it was one of the better movies Ive seen in a long time. First, I was amazed I had never heard of this before considering how crazy it is. As far as the movie goes, the acting is great, and the film is just heart wrenching (but not over the top greusome even though it could have been justified in being so). If you havent seen it I strongly reccomend you check it out. Also, for anyone that has seen it, do you have any idea why it was a straight to DVD/television release? Especially off the power of Ellen Page's momentum after Juno? |

| I seen it they make allot of Indie films go right to DVD. It might cost to much to put it in mainstream theatres. I personally never understood why people needed surround sound and the big screen to see something like Roots or Schindler's list or Sophie's Choice. People are barely going to movies any more any ways.

| I'm sure your just kidding around, but because no one here knows you, a comment like that could be taken as a serious insult. You might want to go a little easier.

| if anyone is serious insulted by ANYTHING on the internet they need to re-evaluate their priorities, let alone that which is clearly a joke. |
