Hard to single out one - different favourites in different genres and different time periods.

60's: Kinks Village green preservation society or Beatles Abbey Road
70's: Led Zeppelin IV or Jethro Tull Thick as a brick
80's: Kate Bush The Dreaming or Metallica Master of puppets or Pixies surfer rosa
90's: Radiohead OK computer or Leftfield leftism or Bjørk debut
00's: Mars Volta Frances the mute or The Residents demons dance alone

Ask me again tomorrow for a different list.

Very hard to pick out one so here's a rather long list in no particular order...

London Calling - The Clash
The Clash - The Clash
Hunky Dory - David Bowie
The Specials - The Specials
Horses - Patti Smith
Strangeways, Here We Come - The Smiths
The Queen Is Dead - The Smiths
Kick Out The Jams - MC5
Unknown Pleasures - Joy Division
Talking With The Taxman About Poetry - Billy Bragg
Led Zeppelin II - Led Zeppelin
Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys
Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables - Dead Kennedys
Marquee Moon - Television
Black & White - The Stranglers
Vauxhall & I - Morrissey
Back In The DHSS - Half Man Half Biscuit
Never Mind The Bollocks - Sex Pistols
Disraeli Gears - Cream
Raw Power - The Stooges
What's Going On - Marvin Gaye

And they are all fantastic.

Hands down for me
Operation Ivy - Energy
They created a musical genre and their lyrics are an amazing critique of our society
