Personally, i think nothing will ever come close to The Exorcist. Thats the only film ive seen that really freaked my out (i mean the original uncut version). Probably something to do with hearing a mans voice coming out of a young girl....

The exorcist is one of the best movies ever made IMO.

I also like the (original!) Texas Chainsaw Massacre, it is sooooo creepy. The whole situation, surroundings, noises, everything is just so psycho and totally sick, it has a real eery vibe to it. I didn't think the remake was all that bad, but it lacked the sick (!) vibe of the original.

Another movie that is maybe a little underrated as a horror movie is Poltergeist. People always call it a kind of "light" horror, maybe because it was directed by Steven Spielberg, or because it's been aired on TV a lot. But I think it is really scary.

I loved It not just because of Pennywise, but b/c it was Tim Curry portraying Pennywise.

Agreed...it scared the crap outta me, especially since I was young when I saw it.

Gotta say reigning champ is Excorcist. I found it very weird how they hyped The Descent so much here in the states, even though it had been out in Britian for months before the release here. Made me think the movie people never heard of the internet and that people can find fun facts like that on it.

The one film that fucked me up was The Entity

Couldn't sleep after watching that

All time favourite horror/sci fi is Resident Evil

Although I also thought the first half of Silent Hill captured the atmosphere of the first game brilliantly, the ending let it down.
