Batman vs. Predator II: Bloodmatch & Batman vs Predator III: Bloodties

Batman vs. Predator II: Bloodmatch

Batman thought his troubles with alien headhunters were over, but a rogue Predator has other ideas. Young but vicious, the Predator comes to Earth to tackle the champion of Gotham -- and it will cut its way through any number of police officer, federal agents and criminal assassins who stand in its way.

This new adventure by Doug Moench pits Batman against one of the most unstoppable foes out there. It doesn't help that seven high-paid killers are also in Gotham to collect the price on Batman's head, or that his erstwhile ally Huntress has involved herself where she isn't (as usual) wanted.

The action is ruthless, bloody and violent, as should be expected where Predators are involved, and there are lots of gratuitous butt shots, as must be expected when the Huntress comes calling. (It's amazing, really, that a single purple line separates this book from a mature-readers title.) While the assassin subplot seems like more of an afterthought than an integral part of the story, it does give Batman more than one thing to think about and gives the Predator more moving targets to ponder.

The art is brighter than the previous book, and the story moves quickly from cover to cover. Once again, DC and Dark Horse have proven just how well they can bring characters together in a cooperative book.

Batman vs Predator III: Bloodties

Writer Chuck Dixon has always been very adept at using the pre-existing characters of a comic book universe in clever, creative ways, and this book is no exception. This time it's twice the action as two Predators, a Mentor and a Student, are using Batman and Robin to prove the Student as a Blooded hunter.

Once the Predators arrive Batman tries to keep Robin out of the battle, unaware that not only are there two opponents, but that they are already picked as the target according to skill. However with Mr. Freeze in the vicinity, Batman needs to keep Robin by his side. The action continues until Batman and Robin each faces his own challenger.

WTF? That guy is a PIMP.
Nice post, man! NEVER would've checked that out otherwise!
If anyone wants any classic Conan or Savage Sword, let me know.
And if anyone's got that Treasury Edition of Superman vs Wonder Woman by Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez...

Electronic comics are great, because many issues are hard to find, and it saves wear and tear on collectors issues!

That and it allows us to see great comics we'd never otherwise know about. Since this site, I've started to buy Y the last man, its such a great comic series it doesn't deserve anything less.
