I have now seen the most disturbing movie that I could even imagine. It's based on a
true story and a bit of research should be done before watching this.
This movie has several issues going on with it, with my biggest one is that it is done as an art house movie, not a horror flick (although that doesn't mean there is no gore in it). If you watch it, make sure you get the unrated version (although I would have a hard time actually recommending this movie) as the unrated version is 89 minutes long and the US 'R' rated release has 18 minutes cut from it. I saw the unrated version.
*mild spoilers ahead*
This movie is basically in three 'chapters' for lack of a better term. The first half hour is him looking for his victim, the middle half hour is the 2 together (and there is a LOT of male nudity as both people in the film are gay which I didn't know until seeing the film and then doing research), and the final half hour has some of the most realistic and hard to watch scenes I have ever seen in a film. If I didn't know any better, I would swear this was a snuff film. I do not recommend this if you have a weak stomach because it is EXTREMELY graphic and very believable. Same should be said for the middle half hour as if you have a huge problem with homosexuality, you will find that section of the film disturbing and hard to watch as well.
As disturbing and graphic as this movie is, it is also boring for most of the film as well if you can believe that. The run time of the film is 89 minutes and there is
maybe 10 minutes worth of dialog, the rest is all visual, and for most of the film, the pacing is very slow and plods along until the last 20 minutes or so. Then the film is very hard to watch with the butchering and disemboweling scenes.
*end mild spoilers*
This is definitely a movie that will stay with you for awhile, and I don't mean that in a good way.
This film is banned in Germany, the place the crime actually took place.
